Living with a rare disease or disability during the cost of living crisis can be challenging. We have put together a centralised resource hub where you can find relevant organisations that can assist with various aspects of life. If you are caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, you can book an appointment for a free 30 minute session with Together for Short Lives’ Energy Adviser. If you are finding it hard to pay your energy bills and would like to talk to somebody, they are here for you. Sessions are available every week day, 10am – 2pm.  

Energy saving advice from Flintshire Council - Find information about support currently available to you if you’re a Flintshire resident to help reduce energy usage/ utility bills, including contact details for the Domestic Energy team, Corporate Energy Team and relevant support groups.

If you’re a resident of Denbighshire and in need of advice about adapting or improving your property’s energy efficiency, Energy efficiency information can be provided by Denbighshire Council.

Warm Wales is Wales’ oldest CIC working to tackle fuel poverty by offering free advice and support to ensure people across Wales and South-West England have warm and safe homes. They have a team of trained energy advisors and community workers to help provide advice, referrals, and access to grants such as gas connection grants to ensure no one is living in unsafe and cold homes. Their Healthy Homes Healthy People project and HHHP+ project are available to everyone to help support you reduce your energy bills, apply for schemes and support those affected mentally by fuel poverty.

Nest is the Welsh Government’s fuel poverty scheme which aims to help people in Wales reduce the impact of their fuel bills. Nest offers a range of advice, as well as a full home energy assessment and home improvements for the most energy inefficient homes – at no cost to you. Nest offers lots of free, impartial help and advice about benefit entitlement, making sure you’re on the right fuel tariff, managing money, and schemes across Wales that offer home improvements.

Are you struggling to pay your bills? British Gas Energy Trust is an independent charitable trust set up to support families and individuals who are struggling to pay their bills across England, Wales and Scotland.

The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free UK wide service which provides extra advice and support, including when there’s an interruption to your electricity or gas supply. 

Citizens Advice Bureau have guidance on saving money when using your electrical appliances.

You'll usually get Cold Weather Payments if you get income-related ESA and are in a work-related activity group or support group. If you’re not in either group, you might also get Cold Weather Payments if you have any of the following:

• a severe or enhanced disability premium

• a pensioner premium

• a child who is disabled

• Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element

• a child under 5 living with you

Money Saving Expert provides tips on reducing energy costs, Gas, Electric & Water Guides and information regarding hardship funds.

Simply Switch is a free and impartial website that helps you find the most suitable option for your household utilities, including energy, phone and broadband.

Check if you can pay less for reliable broadband. If you are in receipt of government benefits, you could be saving money on your monthly broadband and mobile bills by accessing cheaper deals called social tariffs.

Scope offers free energy advice to disabled people in England and Wales. Through its disability energy support scheme, it can offer you advice on a range of issues, including managing debt, efficiency, accessing benefits, grants and trusts, access to fuel vouchers, understanding bills and support with registering for the Priority Services Register.

The All Wales Forum have collated a list of organisations and authorities who are providing advice, grants and possible funding to support people during the cost-of-living crisis.  The list will keep being updated as the Forum comes across further support or when details of grants and funding from the Welsh Government are published.

Cost of Living Support for Families - Working Families suggest that If you are struggling to pay your energy bills and you use a prepayment metre or you don’t use gas or electricity for your heating (e.g. you use an alternative such as oil, LPG, coal, wood), you may be entitled to a fuel voucher through your local council. 

Find energy grants for your home. The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) will provide energy efficiency measures and low carbon heating to low income households living in the worst performing, off gas grid homes in England to tackle fuel poverty and make progress towards net zero 2050.

Vodafone has a range of schemes and social tariffs available for people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance and Universal Credit, as well as those on Employment and Support Allowance, Reduced Earnings Allowance, Disability Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, or Pension Credit.

If you live in England or Wales CCW advice hub is packed with information and useful tools to help you reduce your bills or access financial support, including advice on the different types of schemes that water companies provide.

If your water is supplied by HD Cymru, they can help with keeping bills low, finding the best tariff for you, and managing your payments.

If you already have a water meter, or have requested one, the Bill Cap - WaterSure Wales tariff puts a cap on the amount you have to pay for your water.

If you’re having trouble paying your water bills, Welsh Water may help. They provide:

• Advice on money management

• Finding the right water tariff

• Providing schemes to help if you are in receipt of benefits or have a low income

• Installing water meters to help lower your bills
