Help raise awareness of your condition
The Same but Different organisation uses the arts to raise awareness of disability and counteract prejudice. We are currently looking for people to take part in an exciting photographic project which will shine the light on rare diseases. The aim of this project is to encourage people to get to know the people behind the conditions.
A series of exhibitions are being held in venues throughout the UK and as part of an online exhibition. We are looking for children and adults, with rare conditions or those who have syndromes without a name, to be photographed as part of the project. The initial phase of photographs will be taken in Mold, North Wales. Further photographic sessions will be planned in locations around the UK.
“Genetic Alliance UK supports the work of the Rare Project, led by Ceridwen Hughes to highlight the needs of those living with rare diseases and to gain a better understanding of the person behind the condition. Through this approach we expect the project to raise awareness of rare diseases and to show the impact of rare conditions on children and their families.” Explains Emma Hughes, Development Officer for Genetic Alliance UK and Rare Disease UK in Wales.
